Ground Creations has been involved in consultation and design through to final construction on a wide variety of trails throughout Queensland and interstate. Specialising in creativity and customising to local needs, one of our recent project highlights Ground Creations’ passion for delivering a quality product. Ground Creations completed the “TryActive Skills Park” in the main street of Millaa Millaa, North Qld. Catering to all levels of bike enthusiasts and consisting of three elements – Pump track, Skills trail and Jumps lines the park is designed to encourage community inclusion and develop bike handling skills.
We recently consulted with Darwin Off Road Cycling club where we produced a concept plan for mountain bike trails at Hidden Valley. With a total of 25km of new trail, this concept plan will compliment the existing, formal and informal, trails in the area from Charles Darwin National park through to the Hidden Valley motorsports complex. With an aim to attract national or international events, the proposed concept plan will achieve a trail circuit of over 30km of linked trail, which will include the new and existing trails.
Ground Creations has developed a number of trails for Townsville Rockwheelers over the years, the most recent, “Up The Backside”, a 3.6 km cross country trail, was a particularly challenging but rewarding trail to construct due to the extreme nature of the mountain side. Also completed last year at Douglas Mountain Bike Reserve, Townsville, was a 1.8 km circuit called “Ring Bark Frog”. It is a technical cross country trail with many rock features and challenges, designed to test the skills of all who attempt it.
Rocky MTB club contracted Ground Creations, in 2016, to create a 1.4 km, downhill flow trail with many and varied features to give riders an effortless down hill thrill ride.
Davies Creek, Mareeba received a new trail early in 2014, compliments of Ground Creations. Tank trail is a 4.5 km, intermediate cross country trail that traverses granite ridges and rugged valleys and is a favourite within the network. Ground Creations has contributed to the Davies Creek trail network over the last five years with many realignments and improvements.
Ground Creations developed a 4 km cross country skills trail for Mareeba Mountain Goats that offers a wide variety of opportunities to test and develop mountain bike handling skills while on an adventure ride. These skills obstacles are set out in a progressive, achievable and non threatening manner so that anyone can challenge themselves at their own level.
We have constructed many pump tracks in North Queensland and other parts of Australia. Both on private property and Public space.
Ground Creations constructed the first 14 km of machine built trail, commencing in 2012, at Atherton Forrest Mountain Bike Park and continues to improve and maintain the expanding network of world class trails. We continually have new trails under construction at Atherton and we continue to invest a vast amount of personal time to developing and maintaining the local Atherton trails.
Specialising in design, through to final trail alignment, Ground Creations takes great pride in consulting with QPWS Officers and relevant representatives within the clubs and organisations to achieve the most ideal outcome. This collaborative approach is necessary for the consideration of sensitive environmental impacts and long term sustainability and ultimately, the construction of minimum maintenance trails.
We have become very experienced in constructing trails in environments with differing soil types and drainage issues on terrain that ranges from flat rolling grasslands to extremely rocky, treacherous and steep rain forest mountain sides. Ground Creations takes great pride in the craft of producing a quality trail to create a fabulous experience for all trail users.
